

Starting as a small programme under an external stimulus by UNDP project in early 70's, NIC started functioning in 1977. Since then it has grown incrementally and later exponentially as one of India's major S&T organisations, promoting informatics led development. In 1984-85, Government of India decided to extend the NIC services to State Governments, Union Territory Administrations and District administrations in the country. NIC has setup a nation-wide network NICNET over which state-of-the- art services are being provided. NIC district centres (District Informatics Centres or DICs) provide ICT support to local administration and government / semi government agencies at district level. All DICs are connected to NICNET via VSATs.
NIC Panna was established in 1988 with the afore said objectives for providing its services to the State and Central Government Offices at district level. Since its inception NIC District Center Panna has been engaged in giving services to the District Administration and various other Govt./Semi Govt. offices as per their needs.
Activities & Achievements
NIC Panna is connected to the NICNET using a DirecWay 4020 VSAT installed. Another link using SCPC DAMA for Video Conferencing has been established recently, which can used as a backup link for data transmission. Both the Vsats had 99% uptime since its installlation.
E-Mail and Internet facility to Various departments.
Various departments are connected to NICNET through NIC Panna for accessing various facilities like E-Mail & Internet Connectivity. They are using Dialup Networking which gets connected to RAS Finder Installed at the NIC Panna. All the Five block headquarters and 5 Tehsils were connected to the district headquarters using dialup networking.
Training on ICT to department Personnels.
Training were given to employees regarding the effective use of Computers, E-mail Operation and departments are now relying on E-Mails in their correspondence with headquarters.
A Video Conferencing Centre of NIC has been established in all about districts in MP .The VC facility is operational at all the district of MP State. Most of the government departments are reviewing their schemes on weekly basis using VC facility
DIC helps in e-Governance activities in the district. DIC helps in the proper implementation of various software in the district prepared at New Delhi and Bhopal by various departments.
The Land Records Computerization Project
The Land Records Computerization Project was sanctioned by Central Government, which places on record the various lands, crops, soil type, ownership, mode of irrigation that is each and every thing connected with the land is to be profiled. In future to come, its implementation gives a reflection of a current issue of the record of land, its production, titles etc, which may connect with the land. The software is implemented at all the 5 Tehsils.
Eleven Points Programme
Eleven points programme is an ambitious programme of M.P. State Government for monitoring the working efficiency of 11 department directly linked with common man for providing the basic facilities like water, electricity, medical, education ..etc, operational with the technical support of NIC. Under the scheme the appointed nodal officers visit the villages and collect data in the prescribed formats. This software is implemented at all the Five Blocks, they will enter the data received from the field and transmit it to NIC Panna, here its compiled and transmitted to state head quarters.
Election MIS
Assembly/Parliamentary General Election is the most complex task faced by the district administration. ICT were used in reducing the complexity of certain process which gives huge reliefs to district administration. The most important of these is the polling party formation. Election commission has strict guidelines to follow, A polling party formation software is developed and the entire process was computerised successfully, reducing manual work to near to zero. Various other process like poll analysis, candidate information database, counting details were also computerised and entire thing was done successfully using ICT. Live data was transmitted to Doordarshan directly from the counting centre were there was a dialup networking connectivity to the NICNET from the counting centre.
AGMARKNET
Agmarknet is a NICNET based Agriculture Information System Network (AGMARKNET). For this, Panna Krishi Upaj Mandi has been connected with a nation wide network NICNET. In this project, prices and arrival information of agriculture commodities like grams, wheat, maize, mustard ...etc are directly transmitted from Krishi Upaj Mandies to upload on the portal http://agmarknet.nic.in for the use of its producers, traders, consumers, policy makers ..etc. Bye this way the portal http://agmarknet.nic.in facilitate dissemination of marketing related information.
NREGA (National Rural Employment Gurantee Act) Software
Effective monitoring of the NREGA programme necessitates computer based monitoring. This MIS s/w programme installed at Zila Panchayat and all Blocks in server-client environment. The blockwise data entry of registration, demand, work details, muster roll detail, financial detail etc. done in blocks and then the same data uploaded at NIC-Delhi Server. The same data made available online on the website www.nrega.nic.in.
Flood Information in District Website.
The July-2005 flood has caused huge damages to Panna district. The Collector wanted all the information regarding flood relief work made to public. In this regard this website was updated with various information regarding the flood relief work.
